Sinopse:

Após cinco anos afastado, vivendo em Liberty City, Carl "CJ" Johnson retorna a Los Santos, sua cidade natal, para o enterro de sua mãe. lá, além de reencontrar sua família e seus velhos amigos, CJ descobre que sua antiga gangue, a Groove Street Families, se tornou a gangue mais fraca da cidade.
Agora, CJ terá que reerguer sua gangue ao mesmo tempo em que luta contra as gangues rivais.

Synopsis:
After five years away, living in Liberty City, Carl "CJ" Johnson returns to Los Santos, his hometown, for the burial of his mother. there, in addition to find his family and his old friends, CJ learns that his old gang, the Groove Street Families, became the weakest gang in the city.
Now, CJ will have to rebuild his gang while fighting against rival gangs.
