O game, ambientado na Mitologia Grega, mostrará a jornada de Kratos, um semi-deus consumido por ódio, fúria e rancor. Após ser traído por Ares, o Deus da Guerra, e perder sua família em um massacre, Kratos ( conhecido como o Fantasma de Esparta ) contará com a ajuda de Athena, a Deusa da Sabedoria, e inicia sua jornada em busca de vingança e poder.
